Robinson's Cottages - History

Robinson's Cottages are on the bank of Denny's River on land owned by generations of Robinsons since 1875.

The business of catering to the public started with one log camp in 1920. Although the original camp has been replaced, several more modern log cottages with stone fireplaces have been added.

The water supply for the cottages comes from a refreshing spring--the same spring that was used for an Atlantic Salmon hatchery in the 1890's by the first Robinson owner, to which the salmon eggs were transported by stagecoach from East Orland. As far as we know, the East Orland hatchery is the oldest federal hatchery in the United States.

Robinson's Cottages are the only sporting and recreational cottages on a "Class A" Atlantic Salmon river in the United States.
